Brunei Darussalam to Make Historic Teqball Debut at Asian Beach Games 2026

Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam – Brunei Darussalam is set to mark a historic milestone in its sporting journey with its first-ever participation in Teqball at the prestigious Asian Beach Games 2026, taking place in Sanya, People’s Republic of China from 25 April to 28 April 2026.

This breakthrough signals a major step forward for Teqball in Brunei, positioning the nation within the fast-growing international Teqball ecosystem. The inclusion of the sport in a multi-sport event of this scale underscores its rising global prominence and competitive legitimacy.

Brunei’s Teqball Athletes Selected for International Stage

Representing the nation are two of Brunei’s top Teqball athletes, Ismail Ang and Md Hanis Hidayatullah bin Abdullah, who have consistently demonstrated high performance, discipline, and commitment to the sport.

The team will be led by Head Coach Abdul Rahim, whose structured training programmes and continuous development efforts have played a pivotal role in preparing the athletes for international competition.

A Strategic Milestone for Teqball in Brunei

According to the Brunei Darussalam Teqball Association, this participation is more than symbolic—it is a strategic move to establish Teqball as a competitive sport within the national sports framework.

The Association also acknowledged the vital role played by key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC), whose support and endorsement have been instrumental in enabling Brunei’s participation at this level.
