
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam — The TEQ CUP 2026, organised by Persatuan Teqball Brunei Darussalam, successfully concluded at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Berakas, marking another milestone in the continued development of Teqball in Brunei Darussalam.


The national tournament featured two categories, namely Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles, with local athletes competing through the group stages, semi-finals, bronze medal matches, and finals.


The prize presentation ceremony was graced by Pg Rosli Bin Pg Hj Halus, Director of Brunei Museums, as the Guest of Honour, who presented prizes to the winners. During the ceremony, Mohammad Shukri bin Haji Damit, President of Persatuan Teqball Brunei Darussalam, handed over the medals to the Guest of Honour for presentation to the respective winners.
Men’s Singles

In the Men’s Singles category, Ismail Ang and Muiz advanced from Group A, while Hanis and Adie Irwan advanced from Group B.
In the first semi-final, Ismail Ang defeated Adie Irwan in straight sets, 12–11, 12–8, to secure his place in the final. Hanis also progressed to the final after defeating Muiz in straight sets, 12–11, 12–8, in the second semi-final.

The bronze medal match saw Muiz overcome Adie Irwan in a closely contested three-set encounter, winning 12–11, 11–12, 12–9, to claim third place.

In the final, Ismail Ang delivered a strong performance to defeat Hanis in straight sets, 12–6, 12–7, and was crowned Men’s Singles Champion.

Men’s Doubles

In the Men’s Doubles category, the top four teams from the group stage advanced to the semi-finals. The qualifying teams were Ismail Ang / Adie Irwan, Shukri / Muiz, Hanis / Aziff, and Md. Aqil / Adrian.
Ismail Ang / Adie Irwan booked their place in the final after defeating Md. Aqil / Adrian in straight sets, 12–6, 12–7.

The second semi-final between Shukri / Muiz and Hanis / Aziff produced one of the most competitive matches of the tournament. After dropping the first set, Hanis / Aziff fought back to win 10–12, 12–10, 13–11, earning their place in the final.

In the bronze medal match, Shukri / Muiz defeated Md. Aqil / Adrian in straight sets, 12–8, 12–2, to secure third place.
The Men’s Doubles final saw Ismail Ang / Adie Irwan defeat Hanis / Aziff, 12–10, 12–9, to claim the Men’s Doubles Champion title.

Brunei National Pointing System Introduced
TEQ CUP 2026 also marked the introduction of the Teqball Brunei National Pointing System (BNPS), which will be used starting from this competition and applied to upcoming competitions organised under Persatuan Teqball Brunei Darussalam.
The BNPS is designed to provide a more structured and transparent ranking framework for local Teqball athletes. It will be used to track athlete performance, participation, activity, and development across association-sanctioned competitions.
The system is also expected to support future tournament seeding, athlete monitoring, year-end recognition, and national athlete development initiatives.
Appreciation
Persatuan Teqball Brunei Darussalam expressed its appreciation to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports for its support towards the event.
The association also conveyed its sincere appreciation to Pg Rosli Bin Pg Hj Halus, Director of Brunei Museums, for attending the tournament as the Guest of Honour and presenting the prizes to the winners.
