A Valuable International Debut for Brunei Teqball

Although Brunei Darussalam did not progress beyond the group stage, the tournament represents a historic and highly significant achievement for the nation’s Teqball development.

This marks Brunei’s first official appearance in Teqball under the national contingent at the Asian Beach Games, a major step forward in establishing the sport within the country’s competitive sporting landscape.

Representing Brunei Darussalam were national athletes Ismail Ang and Md Hanis Hidayatullah bin Abdullah, under the guidance of Head Coach Abdul Rahim, who led the team’s preparation and strategic development for the competition.

Their participation reflects the growing commitment of the Brunei Darussalam Teqball Association (BDTA) to elevate the sport both nationally and internationally.

Building for the Future

Facing experienced opponents such as Iraq and North Korea provided valuable lessons and benchmark exposure for Brunei’s athletes. The experience gained from this tournament will serve as a foundation for future regional and international competitions.

The Brunei Darussalam Teqball Association remains committed to strengthening athlete development, expanding grassroots participation, and positioning Brunei as a competitive force in the sport across Asia.

While the results may not have delivered qualification to the next round, the achievement lies in breaking new ground and opening the door for future generations of Brunei Teqball athletes.

Moving Forward

The Association extends its appreciation to the athletes, coaching staff, committee members, and supporting authorities including the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC) for their continued trust and support.

This debut is not the finish line—it is the beginning.
