Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam — Mohammad Shukri bin Haji Damit has been re-elected as President of the Brunei Darussalam Teqball Association for the 2026–2028 term, continuing his leadership of the national association as it enters its next phase of organisational and sporting development.
Following his re-election, Mohammad Shukri outlined three key priorities that will guide the Association over the next two years.
Strengthening Internal Processes
The first priority will focus on improving the Association’s internal processes, administration and overall governance.
As the Association continues to grow, greater emphasis will be placed on establishing clearer operating procedures, improving coordination among committee members, strengthening documentation and creating a more structured approach to the management of programmes, competitions and athletes.
The objective is to build a stronger operational foundation that will enable the Association to function more efficiently and sustainably.
Expanding National Competitions and Talent Identification
The second priority will be to increase the number of national Teqball tournaments organised throughout Brunei Darussalam.
These competitions will be closely integrated with the Brunei National Pointing System, providing athletes with more opportunities to compete, accumulate ranking points and demonstrate their performance consistently at national level.
The system is intended to provide the Association with a clearer and more objective mechanism for identifying active and high-performing athletes who may have the potential to progress into national development programmes and future international representation.
By creating a more consistent competition calendar, the Association also aims to encourage greater athlete participation and raise the overall competitive standard of Teqball in Brunei Darussalam.
Expanding and Strengthening the Committee
The third priority will focus on bringing more committed members into the Association’s committee and operational structure.
As Teqball activities continue to expand, the Association recognises the need for a broader team capable of supporting areas such as tournament operations, athlete development, administration, refereeing, marketing, sponsorship, media, logistics and grassroots development.
The Association intends to create more opportunities for individuals who are interested in contributing their skills, experience and time towards the development of Teqball in the country.
Speaking following his re-election, Mohammad Shukri said:
“Our focus for the next two years is to strengthen the Association from within while creating more opportunities for our athletes to compete and develop. We want to improve the way we operate, organise more meaningful national competitions and build a stronger team of people who are willing to contribute to the growth of Teqball in Brunei Darussalam.”
He added that the Association’s long-term objective remains centred on developing a sustainable national Teqball ecosystem that supports athletes from grassroots participation through to high-performance competition.
The Brunei Darussalam Teqball Association will continue working with athletes, schools, sporting organisations, government stakeholders, sponsors and the wider community to increase participation and strengthen the sport’s presence in Brunei Darussalam.
With the 2026–2028 committee term now underway, the Association will begin implementing its priorities through improved organisational processes, an expanded national competition calendar and stronger committee participation.
