TEQ CUP 2026 Introduces Brunei National Pointing System

Persatuan Teqball Brunei Darussalam will introduce the Brunei National Pointing System during TEQ CUP 2026 as part of its ongoing effort to strengthen the development, ranking, and recognition of Teqball athletes in Brunei Darussalam.

The Brunei National Pointing System is designed as a transparent ranking framework to track athlete performance, activity, and athlete development across official competitions. It provides a clearer structure for recognising athletes who actively participate, perform consistently, and contribute to the competitive growth of Teqball in Brunei.

Objective of the National Pointing System

The main objective of the Brunei National Pointing System is to create a fair, transparent, consistent, and simple ranking framework for athletes competing in BDTA-sanctioned tournaments.

Through this system, Persatuan Teqball Brunei Darussalam aims to:

  1. Track athlete performance and activity across BDTA-sanctioned tournaments.
  2. Identify active and high-performing athletes for athlete development and national-team consideration.
  3. Support fair tournament seeding and year-end recognition.
  4. Maintain an online leaderboard on teqballbrunei.com.

This initiative will help create a more structured national ranking environment while encouraging athletes to remain active and committed throughout the competition calendar.

Pointing System Rewards

Athletes will be awarded points based on their tournament placement, match results, and official participation. Only official BDTA-sanctioned tournaments will count toward the national ranking.

Participation points will only apply to athletes who are officially checked in for the tournament.

Online Leaderboard

The leaderboard will be maintained on teqballbrunei.com, providing athletes and the public with access to national ranking updates.

The leaderboard will display key information such as athlete ranking, athlete name, number of tournaments participated in, and total points collected. The default view will focus on the current year, with an additional all-time ranking filter.

Supporting Athlete Development

The Brunei National Pointing System is not only a ranking tool. It also supports long-term athlete development by helping the association identify active and high-performing athletes for future development opportunities and national-team consideration.

The system will also support fairer tournament seeding and provide a clearer basis for year-end recognition.

Final national-team selection remains subject to coach and committee assessment, but the national pointing system will provide an important data-driven reference to support the process.

Moving Forward

The introduction of the Brunei National Pointing System marks an important step forward for Teqball in Brunei Darussalam.

By rewarding performance, participation, activity, and commitment, the system aims to create a stronger and more professional competitive structure for local athletes.

TEQ CUP 2026 will serve as the pilot platform for this initiative, setting the foundation for a more transparent and consistent national ranking system in the future.
